Vegan & Vegetarian Nutrition

Plant-based diets are currently one of the fastest-growing food movements. People are drawn to them due to their ethical beliefs or for environmental or health reasons. A large body of evidence indicates that adopting this way of eating can assist in the prevention, management and (in some cases) treatment of many chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, colorectal cancer and type 2 diabetes. It’s important to understand how to follow a plant-based diet that is nutritionally adequate and not likely to put someone at risk of nutrient deficiencies. This is where my expertise can come into effect.

I am well versed in current plant-based food trends, the latest evidence and the skills required to guide those wishing to follow a plant-based diet on how to do so healthfully. A vegan or vegetarian diet can be perfectly safe and healthy to follow at any life stage (including childhood and pregnancy) however meeting nutrient requirements requires a little more effort. As a vegan myself with much experience in this area, I can assist you in transitioning to, planning and maintaining a nutritionally adequate, healthy plant-based diet catered to your individual needs.

If you have health concerns, I can guide you in the management, prevention or treatment of the following conditions using a plant-based diet:

  • Weight issues

  • Nutrient deficiencies and associated conditions (e.g. anaemia, osteoporosis)

  • Gut issues

  • Heart disease (high cholesterol, high blood pressure)

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Fertility, pregnancy and PCOS

  • Acne

  • Gout

  • Cancers

  • Liver and renal disease

  • Fatigue

  • Multiple Sclerosis
